The food offered was excellent with superb homemade cakes complementing a lovely breakfast. The room was small with limited hanging space and the bathroom felt cramped, lacking heating due to a defective radiator. Despite these issues, the powerful shower was a highlight, providing a refreshing experience after a long day.

The en suite rooms offer the advantage of privacy, adding convenience after a long journey. The food served, whether lunch or dinner, consistently hits the mark for freshness and quality, particularly the ploughman’s and curry.
The Standard King Double Room felt cramped, with the bathroom door opening awkwardly against the bed, severely limiting space. Navigating the small bathroom became a bit of a challenge, especially with the shower cubicle blocking access to the sink. the lack of a proper lift was an inconvenience, especially for older guests. The handrail along the staircase design leaves much to be desired, as it's difficult to grip, potentially increasing the risk for anyone who needs support while climbing stairs.

The Standard King Double Room was really comfortable and spacious. I loved the cozy vibe and how everything felt clean and well-maintained. It had decent views too, which was a nice bonus. Plus, the USB charging ports were super handy! The only downside was that there was no elevator, which could be tricky if you had a lot of luggage. nice place to crash after a day out!

Oh, the desserts at Northern Sands are a must-try! From the perfectly crafted sweet treats to the juicy local dishes, my taste buds were in paradise! Plus, the breakfast options were generous and delicious, setting a great tone for the day. The staff's friendliness was another highlight, going above and beyond to cater to our every need.
The bathroom was a bit cramped, making the experience less than ideal, and I did hear some fan noise from nearby rooms, but it wasn't enough to dampen my spirits.

Comfortable room, friendly staff, made our stay truly enjoyable with their warm hospitality and excellent breakfast choices, including fabulous haggis and sausage. it's also a great location if you're planning to catch the early ferry to the Orkneys from nearby John O'Groats.
